We are proud to be the first trust to support Jo Milne, who has a rare genetic disorder – Usher Syndrome – which affects the vision, hearing, and balance of more than 400,000 people worldwide.
Jo founded the charity CureUsher, which fundraises to help find a cure for those with the condition. Each year on 2 March, Usher Syndrome Awareness Day is recognised. This day is significant as it honours Charles Usher, a Scottish Ophthalmologist who discovered the condition.
We managed to secure funding to make a training film about Usher Syndrome, helping our colleagues working in healthcare to have a better understanding of this condition.
