Welfare Advice Service created to support patients and staff in South East Northumberland

To better support our patients and staff, Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity is proud to announce our partnership with Citizens Advice Northumberland.

The Welfare Advice Service will offer support at Wansbeck General Hospital for patients during their hospital stay, and for patients of Northumbria Primary Care (NPC) GP practices across South East Northumberland.

Record numbers of people came to Citizens Advice Northumberland during 2024-25 to find help with issues including debt, welfare benefits, energy problems, cost of living and crisis support.

This service will also be available for all staff throughout Northumbria Healthcare Trust and NPC GP Practices.

Rob Graham, Head of Bright Charity, said: “This is a really exciting project which hopefully makes a difference to patients and staff who need specialist welfare advice.

“We’re looking forward to working with Citizens Advice Northumberland and NPC to make this happen.”

More information will be announced in Spring 2026.
