A community-based camera club has opened a new exhibition in their local hospital.

Some of Ashington Camera Club’s 50+ members submitted photos of nature and landscapes to Bright Charity’s healing arts team.

Their goal was to tell stories through the photos which the staff, patients, and visitors of Wansbeck General Hospital could admire throughout the day.

12 photos were chosen to be displayed along the east wing corridor, adding a bit of brightness to the area.

Ashington Camera Club was formed in 1931. Club chairman, Paul Templman, said: “It’s a great social atmosphere and a place of learning, encouraging members to share their passion for photography. Each day is different, you never know what you’ll see!”

Katie Dawson, Healing arts manager, said: “We’re so grateful to the members of Ashington Camera Club for showing their artwork. This will be seen by so many staff and patients, hopefully giving them something to enjoy as they go through the hospital.”

The club meets on Thursdays between 7pm and 9pm at St Aidan’s Community Hall, Park Road Ashington.
