Lifesaving tech boost for Mountain Rescue team thanks to Bright Charity grant

A grant from Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity has funded a vital new piece of equipment for the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team.
The Schiller DEFIGARD 7 is a state-of-the-art patient monitor and defibrillator and includes:
– Oxygen saturation and blood pressure monitoring
– A large, colour display for visibility in tough conditions
– A lightweight, rugged build suited to mountain environments
– Integrated data recording and transmission for handover to NHS clinicians or audit.
By bringing advanced monitoring to the scene of an emergency, particularly in remote areas, the Schiller DEFIGARD 7 enhances patient care before they even reach hospital – providing critical information and early intervention that save lives and improve incomes.
Incredibly, the device was put to use on a real incident just hours after it arrived, helping to assess and stabilise a patient in the field.
Team Leader, Jamie Patterson, said: “Having these tools at our fingertips means we can identify life-threatening conditions earlier and pass detailed information to the NHS teams who take over care.
“Every medically qualified volunteer will receive comprehensive training on the DEFIGARD 7 to ensure we’re using it effectively and safely.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Bright Charity for recognising the importance of pre-hospital care in rural and remote settings and for helping to improve outcomes for patients across our region.”
