New art exhibition unveiled at Cramlington GP practice

A new art exhibition was unveiled last night at NPC Northumbria Way in Cramlington.
The GP practice is now home to a collection of bright and colourful artworks displayed alongside the reception area, thanks to the generosity of local community group, The Northern Butterflies.
The exhibition features prints created by members of The Northern Butterflies during workshops delivered by Northern Print. Inspired by the natural world, the artworks explore the colours, textures and tranquillity of meadows, woodlands and forests, capturing moments of stillness and reflection.
Working with a professional artist, the group experimented with screen printing and monoprinting techniques. These hands-on methods enabled participants to create bold, layered designs and unique, one-of-a-kind prints.
The Northern Butterflies is a creative charity that supports people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. Fittingly, the exhibition launches during Learning Disability Week, celebrating inclusion and showcasing the creativity and voices of people with a learning disability.
Leanne, one of the featured artists, said:
“When I was making the picture, I was thinking about the seasons. I like bright colours – they make me feel happy.
“I feel inspired to create more artwork for hospitals so I can make people smile and brighten up their day.”

Jan Bell, Practice Manager at NPC Northumbria Way, said:
“It was a pleasure to meet everyone in the group. They worked incredibly hard to create a brilliant range of colourful artwork, which is now proudly displayed at Northumbria Way.
“As I pass it each day, I’ll be reminded of the fantastic work the charity does to support people with disabilities.”
The exhibition is also continuing at North Tyneside General Hospital, where it can be viewed near the main entrance.
The project was organised by Bright’s Healing Arts team with funding from Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity.
