NHS trust launches app to support patients with cancer and their families

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has launched an app to provide easy access to support and guidance for patients with cancer and their families.
The trust, which provides hospital and community care in Northumberland and North Tyneside, is committed to giving patients the best support, so they can live with and beyond cancer.
A ‘Cancer information and support’ webpage already provides a wide range of information and support for patients and their families. The launch of the app aims to make even quicker and easier for them to access the support they need.
Recognising that cancer can impact every part of someone’s life, the app covers physical and mental wellbeing, support that people can access from local and national charities and groups, advice and guidance in relation to the cost of cancer, and information about Northumbria Healthcare’s cancer prehabilitation provision and why this is important.
The app is free to download and available via the Google and Apple app stores from today (Wednesday, 25 June).
The app has been developed thanks to support from Bright.
Head of Bright Charity, Rob Graham, said: “We were impressed by the team’s commitment to helping patients live with and beyond cancer, so we were very happy to support this project.
“We hope that the app can help patients and their families going through difficult times by providing them with easy access to the support, guidance and advice they may need.”
