Listening to Lesley

A member of staff with hearing loss, who wears two hearing aids, has shared her experiences of being in hospital and having her hearing aids removed to help us learn from this.

The project begun after Lesley found herself on the operating table and unable to understand what the staff were saying to her – the situation was made particularly difficult as the staff were required to masks and so she was unable to lip read as she normally would.

Lesley’s story is now used in our D/deaf training programme to help increase awareness about the needs of D/deaf patients and help ensure processes are in place to ensure their experience of hospital is positive.
