Teardrop marks bereaved Mother’s Day with afternoon tea

Teardrop brought together bereaved mothers for a heartfelt afternoon of remembrance, reflection, and connection at their Bereaved Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on Saturday 3 May.

Joined by long-time supporters and ASDA Community Champions, the event was made even more special with the surprise presentation of a Diamond Community Award in honour of our ongoing work with families across the region.

Marie Blyth of Teardrop said: “We host the event to bring together bereaved mothers and validate their grief.

“This is a poignant reminder that bereaved mothers are still mothers – even if their children are no longer with them. It acknowledges the grief and emotional changes they face, especially around traditional celebrations like Mother’s Day, which can be particularly painful.

“The Teardrop afternoon tea is not only about remembrance but recognising the ongoing journey of grief. It’s a time for reflection, connection, and reminding bereaved mothers that they are not alone.”
